ABOUT

Linda Emerson

Linda Emerson is from Canada, born in the Maritimes, with Irish ancestry. Growing up on a farm in Southwestern Ontario, she listened to her mom sing country and folk songs at the kitchen sink. In 2000, she went honky-tonkin’ in Nashville and never left. Currently, she works at the Nashville Public Library and the Ryman Auditorium, and spends a good deal of her time in bars, drinking whiskey and listening to real live bands. New Orleans is her favourite city, and she travels there, as often as possible. She listens to nothing but AM radio in her car (650 WSM and 1470 WVOL), doesn’t own a TV, and reads a lot of books on natural science. Her songs come from somewhere out of all of this.

Released worldwide on July 25, 2017, What Took You So Long (Black Chesterfield) is a compilation of songs of yearning written by Linda Emerson with vocals by Sammy Barrett, Erin Rae, Stacey Randol, Frank Carter Rische and Grace McKenna Rische and Lillie Rische.
